Best overall Nike men’s running shoes for wide feet

Top Pick
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 (extra wide)

Main Features:

  • Outer Material: Synthetic
  • Closure: Lace-Up
  • Heel Type: Flat
  • Shoe Width: Extra Wide

The new Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39, come with an extra wide version.

I’ve gone on a 5-mile run on them and here are my thoughts:

Upper: Nike learnt their lesson from the Pegasus 37 and Pegasus 38, as the upper is plusher than the Pegasus 37 but still provides a decent lockdown and doesn’t feel hot at all.

This in essence is making it a really comfortable shoe.

The tongue is substantially more prominent than the Pegasus 37 and, most likely, the Pegasus 38. I’m sure some of you will notice the reappearance of the fly wire, and the upper fits the foot quite beautifully.

Midsole: The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 separates itself from the Pegasus 37 and Pegasus 38 by including an air pocket in the heel.

There’s one in the forefoot, under a layer of React foam.

The effect of these two airbags is a substantially softer yet responsive sensation than the Pegasus 37 and Pegasus 38.

From my experience, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39s did not require any break-in time.

The midsole also feels less bottom heavy than prior models, making the overall package seem more balanced.

Outsole: The outsole is quite gripping and does not add any noticeable weight.

I ran on stone paths, cement, asphalt and your regular pedestrian pavements and never felt like I was losing traction. In addition, it doesn’t hinder the shoe from bending where it needs to.

Overall Feel: They definitely feel lighter on foot, and there are no concerns with ventilation.

Their cushioning is more solid and the upper is more structured.

On my run, I appreciated the bounce and responsiveness the shoes gave. I just intended to run three miles, but they felt so good that I pushed myself for another 2!

Overall, I’m delighted with the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39s.

If you’ve been seeking a replacement for your old Nike Pegasus 37 or Pegasus 38, or if you are simply looking for or a genuinely quality shoe, these are definitely worth it.

Best runner-up Nike men’s running shoes for wide feet

Runner Up
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus FlyEase (Extra Wide)

Main Features:

  • Outer Material: Synthetic
  • Closure: Lace-Up
  • Shoe Width: Extra Wide

The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus FlyEase are extremely comfortable, lightweight and supportive. What I liked most about the shoes is the Velcro closure and excellent support.

This was the first time I’ve worn the Flyease version of the shoe, and I’m really excited. It has the same look and feels as the regular Pegasus versions. Well, sort of!

They are true to their size. Not too tight and not too loose. They’re lightweight yet durable and responsive for jogging.

They’re ideal for outdoor jogging, which is what I do most of the time. However, I also tried them on the treadmill and they are absolutely fine.

The design of the shoe is also excellent.

I like the colour scheme, and the Flyease strap makes for a comfortable fit. I’d adjust it a bit at first to get the right feel, but once set and done it’s super easy to replicate every time you need to take them off and on again.

Hence, no laces are needed.

The main reason I appreciate the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus FlyEase is the Velcro mentioned above as it seems quite durable. Plus, the shoes are certainly comfortable enough to wear all day.

Another attractive feature of the shoe is its excellent grip and springy cushioning. Despite the fact that the style of the shoe is a bit different than what you’d expect from Nike, I’ve come to love this model so much that it’s now my favourite pair.

I used them for both running and walking and had no problems. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Nike Revolution 6 (Extra Wide)

Main Features:

  • Upper: Synthetic and Textile
  • Lining : Textile
  • Outer Material: Synthetic
  • Inner Material: Manmade
  • Sole: Rubber
  • Closure: Lace-Up
  • Heel Type: No Heel

The Nike Revolution 6 looks like a common, no thrills pair of shoes.

However, for their price point, they are definitely more than that!

After a few weeks of wearing these shoes, I’d say they’re what you’d expect from a Nike sneaker.

They were comfortable for everyday wear plus they provided adequate support for me and my foot.

They’re high-quality with a traditional design. I love how lightweight they’re, which makes them ideal for both daily use and serious running/workouts. I prefer a “no frills” style, and these shoes fit the bill.

For everyday wear, I love the Nike Revolution 6 Running Sneakers. If you aren’t in a too formal of an environment, you can wear them all day as they very comfortable for walking around and standing all day.

I’ve also noticed that I reach for them on the weekends when I’m exercising, running errands, walking my kids around the neighbourhood, and so on.

I’ve had them for a few weeks and find them to be pretty sturdy. Even though I wear them frequently, they still look like new.

Also, I sometimes find Nike shoes a bit thin, but I didn’t have that problem with these. I absolutely love wearing them and want to continue to do so in the future.

Bottom Line

There aren’t that many options for people with wide feet when it comes to Nike and running.

Thankfully, the ones that do exist, are absolutely brilliant.

The best ones for me are the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 (extra wide) with their sophisticated and quality build.

However, if you are on a budget, do not overlook the Nike Revolution 6 Running Sneakers. Their price doesn’t reflect their quality. Trust me, you could do much worse at that price point!
